Abstract: Jenny Saville is a 21st-century British artist who was an original member of the Young British Artists. In my educational video, I will showcase Saville’s fleshy and grotesque artwork and explain how her works are influenced by historical artists from almost every time period. Using a feminist perspective, I will emphasize Saville’s societal critiques about gender conformity and body image. In detail, I will be reviewing five of Saville’s paintings titled Olympia, Reverse, Branded, Passage, and Mothers. By the end of the video, I will reflect on Saville’s career and how her artwork dismantles patriarchal societal norms, including the male gaze. Jenny Saville is a revolutionary artist who takes inspiration from The Old Masters and transforms them into societal critiques, opening the eyes of her audience to criticize the gender inequity taking place around them.
