Jean Sin is an American artist, born in Seoul, Korea currently living and working in Brooklyn. She has a vast body of work, however she is best known for her installation pieces, which is what I will focus on in this presentation. I will describe eight of her pieces titled, Chemical Balance, Unraveling, Carte Blanche, TEXTile, Cut Outs and Suspended Seams, 20/20, Worn Soles, Alterations, and finally her most recent piece, Pause. All of these works tell an individual story and have their own identities. I will explain how, through her meticulous creation process, Shin manages to not only create incredible works of art, but is able to tell stories about communities and society and create almost portrait-like pieces that send powerful messages.
